I am a Healthcare Chaplain based at Colchester hospital and I have been a trustee for over 20 years.
I trained at Severalls Hospital as a psychiatric nurse and then worked in residential care after which I studied for Church of England ministry in Nottingham working thirteen years in parishes in north and south London and then in Bradford, Yorkshire. After seven years in the north I returned to Essex witnessing the official closure of Severalls in 1997, having been given the post of Community Mental Health Chaplain three years earlier.
I have a keen interest in sport with a particular liking for cycling and swimming. I also enjoy reading about history and current affairs and love to participate in quizzes.
My experience of hospital and community services and faith has given me the desire to get alongside and offer spiritual support to those experiencing mental distress. I believe there is so much to be done and Mid and North Essex Mind has the potential to be a major provider in improving mental health services in Essex.
