After a varied and interesting career in the City in IT and Change Management, both in a permanent and freelance capacity, life events led to me taking a different direction and gave me the opportunity to volunteer and work within the charitable sector.
This has included working at Maldon & District Citizens Advice Bureau, starting as a volunteer adviser and after a number of years co-managing the Bureau. This experience gave me invaluable insight to our community and the problems and issues they face, especially people with mental health issues.
I joined Mid Essex Mind as a Trustee in February 2012. When the charity was merged with Colchester Mind in February 2016, I was asked to stay on as a Trustee of the newly merged charity after being heavily involved in the merger process. A position I was delighted to accept.
In September 2017, I become the Chair of the charity. These are exciting and challenging times, and I look forward to working with everyone within the charity and our partners to deliver the services necessary for people who have mental health problems in the Mid and North East Essex region.
