A fantastic fundraising success with Colchester Institute!

We recently celebrated a year of partnership with Colchester Institute. Staff and students at the College have worked hard over the past academic year in order to raise funds through a wide range of events such as bake sales, a Christmas jumper day and a quiz as well as charity pot collections.

The final sum of £1,470.78 was presented by the College’s Principal and Chief Executive, Alison Andreas to Community Partnerships Fundraiser, Jenny MacPherson. Additional funds raised through charity pots displayed around the College were not included in the final total but will continue to be sent to the charity.

Jenny MacPherson, was delighted to accept the cheque on behalf of Mid and North East Essex Mind, commenting: “It was fantastic to work with Colchester Institute as their chosen charity partner for this past year – both staff and students were really enthusiastic about supporting the charity and raising awareness about the mental health services available in their local area.

Lots of people are unaware that, whilst we are affiliated with the national Mind charity, we don’t receive any funding from them, so we rely on the kind generosity of local people and organisations to support our services. For instance, £485 could pay for 8 sessions of therapeutic support for a young person and £1,044 could support 4 different people over 3 months by one of our support workers. The money raised by Colchester Institute will make a really big difference to local people who are suffering from a mental health problem.”

Thank you to all the staff and students at Colchester Institute for your support!
