Help for Children
Our work in Schools
WARMS is our Wellbeing and Resilience Mental Health Service. We provide young people and their families support around mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our service is aimed at helping young people early on so people can get help quickly and problems do not get worse.
We are currently working in several primary schools across north east Essex.
What we do
- We offer individual parent led support around your child’s worries and anxiety and with low level behavioural issues. Evidence tells us that if we support parents to support their child the intervention is more effective for this age group.
- We provide parent groups around these topics based on nationally recognised programmes. We understand that parents benefit from support from their peers as it can sometimes feel as if they are the only parent finding it hard, which we know is not true. Parents who attend groups often cite the peer support as one of the most effective tools.
- We offer a range of workshops throughout the year around wellbeing and mental health.
- We offer transition support to pupils that need extra support around change.
- We support schools to implement strategies around promoting good mental health and wellbeing.

How to access support
You can speak to your child’s teacher or any member of staff if you would like a referral into our service.
If you would like to have a general discussion or get further information about our service you can email on warms@mnessexmind.org and one of the senior clinicians will get in touch with you.
Please note we cannot offer support to families that are already receiving input from higher level services such as EWMHS (Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health Service) or Social Care.
Our work in secondary schools
We are currently working in several secondary schools and colleges across north east Essex.
What we do
- We provide 6-8 weeks of individual sessions to young people around low mood and/or anxiety. We are also able to work with your parents/ carers to help them understand how to support you during your intervention.
- We run groups about low mood and/or anxiety as well as building resilience. Young people often say that hearing that others feel like they do is one of the best things about groups as well as the support they get from people their own age who understand what they are going through, such as exam stress, wellbeing and self-esteem.
- We help schools and staff develop further understanding about mental health and promoting wellbeing.
