The event marked the beginning of Suffolk and North East Essex ICS transitioning to new statutory arrangements subject to the Health and Care Act, 2022.

This introduced two new statutory features for the Integrated Care Systems:

  • an NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB), responsible for NHS strategic planning and allocation decisions, and;
  • an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), responsible for bringing together a wider set of system partners to develop the strategy to address the broader health, public health and social care needs of the local population.

The event celebrated this new chapter. Our team were able to learn about all of the amazing work going on across the system to improve the health and wellbeing of people in our local communities. We also had a stand, showcasing our local mental health services and support.

What are integrated care systems?

Integrated care systems (ICSs) are partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services.

This includes NHS, local councils, community and voluntary organisations, people who live in a certain area, people who use services, carers and other community partners.

By working together, the aim is to improve the lives of people who live and work in the area.
