New services to offer support to NHS workers during the Coronavirus pandemic

We are delighted to be offering a new telephone support service to all NHS and Hospice staff in North East Essex and East Suffolk during the Coronavirus outbreak.

We have partnered with North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group in order to open this dedicated telephone support service.

Our team of experienced support workers and registered Mental Health Nurses will offer support and practical solutions during this challenging period.

Those that might need longer term support will have counselling made available through Mid and North East Essex Mind or Suffolk Mind, depending on the individual’s location.

The service will operate between 9am – 1am weekdays and 5pm – 1am at weekends in order to provide a flexible approach for those who are working in shifts.

NHS staff will be able to access the service whether they are based in a hospital, GP surgery or in a community setting, including those that work for Hospice’s within North Essex and Suffolk.

James McQuiggan, CEO, said “It’s important as a local mental health charity that we recognise the pressure our colleagues in the NHS and Hospices are currently under due to COVID-19.  We have a responsibility to ensure that during this time we’re available to all who may need our help and that includes those within a healthcare environment.  The wider impact of what is currently being experienced is yet to be understood, however it’s inevitable that this will impact on our mental health which is why it’s important we take steps now to support all on the frontline and those in our communities. Through collaboration with our partners at both North Essex and Suffolk CCG’s including Suffolk Mind we’ve been in a position to develop a service that takes into consideration the experiences of those keyworkers at this difficult time.”
