There are many ways to raise valuable funds for charity, but during a pandemic individuals are taking to extreme challenges, which can be undertaken within the current restrictions and Sam Comiskey is no exception.
Sam, a 20 year old from Colchester, is planning to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours to raise money for Mid and North East Essex Mind a charity that means a lot to him.
“I am doing this challenge to raise awareness on the impact of lockdown on peoples mental health. I know the money raised will go towards helping people who are struggling during this tough time”.

Sam has created an Instagram account @sams_4x4x48_challenge, so that people can follow his progress from his training schedules taking place now and onto the challenge itself.
The challenge will start at 8pm Friday 19th March and finish at 8pm on Sunday 21st March, when he will have covered a total of 48 miles.
Tough year for fundraising
At Mid and North East Essex Mind, like all charities, 2020 was a tough year when it comes to fundraising.
Julie Arthur, Marketing and Fundraising Manager said “We are truly grateful for the inspiration and drive that supporters like Sam show when they take on these radical challenges to raise valuable funds for us. With a growing number of people experiencing a mental health problem our services are needed more than ever before”.
Already Sam has raised a phenomenal £1,274 on his GoFundMe page, which will remain open for donations until the challenge is completed.
