Our training day covers the following topic’s:
Mental Health Awareness
Managing health, work and wellbeing is the responsibility of both the employer and the employee. At this session you will learn what the signs and symptoms are of common mental health problems like Anxiety and Depression and changes in behaviour which may occur if someone is struggling with their mental health.
Employers have a major role to play in encouraging good mental health at work and a culture of inclusiveness. Every employer depends on having healthy and productive employees – valued and supported staff are far more likely to deliver the best outcomes for your business. If you want to attract and retain committed employees, prioritising the mental health of your staff needs to be core business in your organisation.
On completing this training you will:
- Be able to spot the signs that a staff member or colleague may be struggling with their mental health
- Feel more confident in initiating a conversation with a colleague about their mental health and wellbeing
- Have the tools in place to offer appropriate support.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance throughout the course of the day. The session will be led by:
Louisa Brewster – Louisa has worked in health and social care for over 30 years and is an experienced mental health practitioner and trainer.
Helen Barrett – Helen has worked with Mid and North East Essex Mind for 10 years in various roles, most recently HR Officer, and is qualified with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
This is a one-off training session priced at £175 per person to include parking, lunch, handouts and resources.

Suicide Prevention Training for GP’s
We are currently developing a new training programme available to GP practices across mid and north east Essex. This half day training session will give both clinical and non-clinical staff the tools to identify if a colleague is experiencing suicidal thoughts and how to open a conversation and support them to seek help.
This session will be led by:
Frances Kerr – Frances trained as a Clinical Psychologist and worked in the NHS for 12 years before taking time out to be with her young family. Frances then spent several years running her own business, until she felt drawn back to working within the mental health field. Frances has been working for Mid and North East Essex Mind as a Support, Time and Recovery worker since November 2018 and has recently taken the additional position of Suicide Prevention Trainer. Frances lives locally with her family and loves walking and yoga, going to the cinema and spending time with friends.
This Training is completely free of charge to practices and has been generously funded by a local family.
If you work in a GP Practice and would like more information please contact Frances on 01206 764600 or email email@example.com.
