We need you!

At Mid and North Essex Mind, we’re only a small fundraising team working hard to support those who are raising money for us and we are looking for fundraising volunteers to help!

People volunteer for a wide range of reasons; here one of our volunteers, Lucie, talks about her experience and the benefits she found from volunteering in our fundraising team:

“Having experienced mental health problems and going through recovery, I became interested in finding out more about my local mental health charity Mid and North Essex Mind. I hoped that my own personal experience together with my prior office-based skills would be of benefit.

I made contact with the charity and met with Holly, the Marketing and Fundraising Manager, and with her support I started volunteering one day a week in the office.

Being a fundraising volunteer has really helped my confidence and has given me that stepping stone I need to get back into employment. It has also helped me to understand mental health better and allowed me to find out more about the services Mid and North Essex Mind provides in the local area; I knew I really wanted to be a part of raising funds to help more people.

Everyone at Mid and North Essex Mind has been encouraging and supportive and that’s what you need when you volunteer your time; you want to feel that you are part of the team.

The fundraising team, even though small, has so much energy and passion to bring in more funding and at a time when people like myself need the right services and the right people, funding is vital.

Volunteering in fundraising gave me back my self-esteem and my confidence. I’ve learnt new skills too – it’s great for the charity but it’s also really great for the person!”

If you would like to know more about our fundraising volunteer roles at Mid and North Essex Mind, please contact our Community Partnerships Fundraiser, Jenny, at j.macpherson@mnessexmind.org. Further information and an application form can also be found here.

We particularly need volunteers to help with attending events and information stands, coordinating collection pots and organising their own fundraising events. You only need to volunteer the time you can manage and anyone can volunteer (although you do need to be at least 17).

We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
