Direct Marketing Policy

This policy describes how and why Mid and North East Essex Mind use Direct Marketing, how we protect your privacy and your rights and choices regarding Direct Marketing.

Who we are

Throughout this policy ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ refers to Mid and North East Essex Mind. Charity Registration Number 1064309.

How we use direct marketing

Mid and North East Essex Mind uses direct marketing via email using the platform Mail Chimp. We do not conduct direct marketing via telephone, SMS or by post.

Mid and North East Essex Mid operates an opt-in policy whereby anyone wishing to receive direct marketing from us takes an affirmative action by completing a sign up form on our website, or by expressed written or verbal consent to a member of the fundraising team. We do not rely on legitimate interest to send direct marketing.

We never sell, swap or share information with any third parties for the purposes of direct marketing.

What direct marketing we send

On receiving consent from a supporter we will send an email newsletter. This is sent every two months, with an additional one send during Mental Health Awareness Week totaling 7 communications per year.

Our newsletter may contain information about: Fundraising, Employment opportunities, volunteering news and opportunities, Mid and North East Essex Mind Services, Case studies and real life stories, all or a combination of the above. There is also the option to request additional fundraising emails.

How to receive this information

Anyone wishing to receive this information will need to ‘opt-in’, thus giving us explicit consent to send them direct marketing.
Anyone can opt-in by:
• Completing the ‘Join us’ sign up box on our website
• In writing (post or email) to a member of the fundraising team
• By telephone to a member of the fundraising team

A name and email address will be recorded on our database along with the date we received an opt-in and how this was received (online, in writing, by telephone).

How to stop receiving this information

If anyone wishes to stop receiving our direct marketing they can request this in the following ways:
• By clicking ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of the email
• By telephone to a member of the fundraising team on 01206 764600
• By email fundraising@mnessexmind.org
• By post to The Constantine Centre, 272a Mersea Road, Colchester, CO2 8QZ

Requests to unsubscribe will be actioned and no further communication will be received.

How to make a complaint

If you wish to make a complaint about our direct marketing please contact the Marketing & Fundraising Manager by telephone on 01206 764600, by email fundraising@mnessexmind.org or by post to The Constantine Centre, 272a Mersea Road, Colchester, CO2 8QZ. We will acknowledge and provide an initial response to complaints within 10 working days of receiving it. Whilst we expect to be able to resolve most complaints within that timeframe, if we need to conduct a more in-depth investigation, we will aim to provide you with a full response within 20 working days.

We may make changes to this policy from time to time, any changes made will be circulated in the following direct marketing communication.
