We were absolutely delighted to welcome Colchester MP Pam Cox to officially open our North East Essex Sanctuary at its new home in The Coach House, Lewis Gardens, High Street, Colchester, near Firstsite gallery.
Our Sanctuary is at the heart of our work supporting mental health in Colchester. We’ve moved from St Peter’s Street to a more central, accessible location, giving everyone who visits a calm, welcoming space where they can feel safe and supported. It really does feel like a sanctuary.
Our CEO, Ginny Idehen, and Chair of Trustees, Ian Beaumont, welcome Pam Cox MP and community partners to our Sanctuary Hub in Colchester City Centre.
Pam Cox was able to see first hand the work we do and said:
“It’s vital that people get the mental health support they need. It’s really inspiring to see the exceptional work Mid and North East Essex Mind is delivering to the people of north east Essex in the heart of the community.”
Our CEO, Ginny Idehen, and the team were thrilled to show Pam around the Hub. Ginny said:
“Our Sanctuary provides a safe, compassionate space where people can get the support they need. Being in the heart of Colchester means our services are now even more accessible, and the environment itself is designed to be calming and welcoming for everyone who comes through our doors.”
Â
At the Sanctuary, we work with people to create personalised support plans that meet their individual needs. Our aim is to prevent mental health crises wherever possible, and to offer timely, compassionate support when someone is feeling overwhelmed or distressed.
Â
The Hub is open 10am–11pm, 365 days a year. People can self-refer or be referred by a healthcare professional, including GPs, crisis teams, emergency departments, and community services.
