The Barcelona Marathon takes runners on a 42.195km journey through the heart of one of the world’s most distinctive cities, combining historic streets, modern architecture and stretches of Mediterranean coastline.

Known for its flat, fast, fully urban course and electric race-day atmosphere, it is an ideal challenge whether you are preparing for your first marathon or hoping to achieve a new personal best.

About the Barcelona Marathon

The Barcelona Marathon, officially known as the Zurich Marató Barcelona, is one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing marathons, drawing tens of thousands of runners from around the world for a 42.195km route through the centre of Barcelona.

Starting on Passeig de Gràcia, runners take on an entirely urban circuit through the heart of a cosmopolitan, open and active city, passing architecture and neighbourhoods recognised the world over before finishing near the coast.

The course is flat and fast, with staggered starts organised by estimated pace to keep things comfortable for runners of all abilities, and a team of pacers guiding groups across a full range of finish times, from 2:45 to 4:30.

Event registration includes:

Entry into the Barcelona Marathon 2027

• An official race number and timing chip
• An official event running T-shirt
• A finisher medal after completing the race
• Regular aid and refreshment stations throughout the course, roughly every 2.5km
• Access to the event’s runner services and Expo Sports

The race takes place on 14th March 2027. Bib numbers must be collected in person at Expo Sports in the days before the race — there is no race-day bib collection.

Please note that runners are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel, accommodation, insurance and other costs associated with attending the event.

The Barcelona Marathon is a certified 42.195km, entirely urban road race through the heart of the city.

Starting on Passeig de Gràcia, the route runs through central Barcelona, taking in a mixture of historic landmarks, modern architecture and lively neighbourhoods before heading towards the coast.

The course is flat and fast, with staggered start waves based on estimated finish time to reduce congestion, and pacers on course for seven target times ranging from 2:45 to 4:30, making it well suited to runners looking to complete their first marathon or chase a personal best.
